We use a proven system to effectively and completely restore your family’s mattresses, including damage and odors from water, mildew, and smoke. Get to know our mattress restoration process.
More often than not, Elements Restoration is able to restore your mattresses to their pre-loss condition. Our team has experience restoring a variety of mattress types, including innerspring, foam, hybrid, and latex mattresses. Here are the steps we take to remove fire and water damage from your mattresses.
Our first step is to use a vacuum with a HEPA filter to remove debris, soot, and loose particles from your mattress. Then, we apply specialized cleaning agents to remove odors from smoke and water stains and steam clean your mattress to sanitize it. We then treat your mattress with an anti-microbial solution and expose it to UV light to kill mold spores. Once cleaning is complete, we use dehumidifiers and drying chamber to thoroughly dry your mattress.
If your mattress was exposed to smoke or water, we will use an ozone treatment to remove persistent smells from smoke, mildew, and mold.
Once we’ve cleaned, sanitized, dried, and deodorized your mattress, we will check for lingering odors, moisture, and structural issues. If we uncover additional contaminants, we will perform a final cleaning. If the mattress passes our inspection, it is ready for you to enjoy once again.
In the restoration industry, accurately documenting and managing non-restorable items is a critical part of the claims process. We accurately document items deemed non-restorable during the assessment process, designed to streamline communication between homeowners and insurers while providing clarity and peace of mind.
Many, but not all, mattresses can be restored after suffering fire, smoke, or water damage. Innerspring, foam, and latex mattresses are most often restorable, though mattresses made with natural materials such as cotton and wool are more challenging to restore due to their absorbency and susceptibility to mold. Mattresses that are severed affected by mold and mildew or that have suffered structural damage may not be restorable regardless of mattress type.
Typically, it takes one to two days to thoroughly clean, dry, and deodorize a mattress. This timeline can be longer if additional repairs or odor treatments are required.
Elements Restoration uses a variety of strategies to remove smoke odor from a mattress. Some odors can be removed with a simple baking soda treatment, while others require professional-grade neutralizers and ozone treatments. Steam cleaning and exposing the mattress to air and UV light can eliminate the contaminants that cause odors, too.
